I played through the Halo Wars demo tonight.  My initial thoughts were that the game was stunning.  Then the newness wore off.  I’m interested in the story and will purchase the game to play through, but if you’re not into the Halo story, then I can’t say this is worth $60.  Buy the latest Command and Conquer for PC instead.

The controls in Halo Wars are better than other RTS games I’ve played on consoles; however, you’ve only got so many buttons on the controller.

Honestly, I really wanted to love this game, as I am a huge Halo fan.  Yeah, I’ve read the novels.  Yes, there are novels.  It’s just not the same level of enjoyment as other Halo games - and I’m also a huge RTS fan.  There’s just not enough “new” stuff in this game to set it apart from better RTS games on the PC.

Again, Halo fans jump in.  The story appears quite solid.  The cut scenes are great.  I’m really looking forward to the story.  RTS fans, stick with PC games.  You will get frustrated.
