With all of the three seventh generation video gaming platforms being over 2 years old, it is time to once again pit them all together and get the information of how each system stacks up, get their differences, their strengths, and weaknesses. All of these three consoles had their moment in the limelight and had their ups and downs.
Wii
Nintendo’s very own Wii has made a serious impact in the gaming industry with its innovative wireless motion controls that direct most of the games. It has long become an instantaneous family favorite and has become the platform of choice for gamers young and old and even to people who typically don’t play video games due to its broad variety of games that target everybody.
What’s good about Wii is that it has backwards compatibility and the ability to play some old previously released games from old consoles via download. Its support for 4 controllers and online adaptability also make it the choice for family fun. The Wii also comes out very cheap at $249.
The main problem of the Wii is the limitation of the graphics. This has slowly begun to surface more when the projected games started to be released, but didn’t land on the Wii console because of their failure to manage the graphics that the PS3 and XBOX 360 can deal with.
Playstation 3
The PS3 is the real powerhouse with all the latest technology and graphics enhancements that gaming itself can provide. It leads in being more of a home entertainment system than being a typical gaming system due to its Blu-ray support and computing adaptability. The PS3 also has a great share of critically acclaimed games in the later months successfully attracting the more serious gamers. Multiplayer support is also enormous, thanks to their recently launched Playstation Home and its WiFi support.
All of these functions come with a hefty price tag starting at $399 making it the main difficulties of the whole system. The expense of developing videos for the PS3 is costly as well, which is why a lot of the 3rd party game developers move away and focus on the other consoles.
Xbox 360
This early bird of the seventh generation consoles sports has some awesome high def graphics, which is, pretty much akin to the PS3. It has an far-reaching selection of games thatfocuses on the same players as the PS3 and is famous for offering the highest rated games on the market today. Their Xbox Live service makes it superior for playing online and their Xbox Arcade is optimal for players that are into retro titles.
Although the Xbox 360 beats the PS3 by a smaller margin in price, the hard disk space included is lower and it doesn’t have the Blu-ray support that the PS3 currently reigns on. Playing high definition movies requires a separate HD-DVD drive accessory unlike the PS3’s built in Blu-ray support.
These three prevailin systems all have their own places in the gaming universe. We have the Wii for the majority of fervent gamers of all ages, the PS3 for some more particular gamers, and the Xbox 360 for PC gaming fanatics. While they are heavily competing to be the best console of choice, all the consoles are successful in what they perform best.
