I actually got in a couple rounds of play on SOCOM Confrontation without the game freezing up on me. As a commenter on my previous post noted, I like the gameplay, BUT it’s still too buggy.
I’ve installed (mated, or whatever) the bluetooth headset on my PS3 and still can’t get it to work on SOCOM. It shows up as working on the screen during game play, but I can’t talk or hear with it. I’ll try a reinstall tonight maybe, but a “console” game should require so much freaking troubleshooting.
Some of you think I’m an Xbox fanboy, well call it what you want, but I’ve never had this many problems with an Xbox 360 game. Maybe it’s Slant6’s fault and that’s why SOCOM Confrontation is so buggy. I don’t know. I don’t care. The experience just sucks.
Maybe they’ll fix it. I hope they do, because I’ve been looking forward to a PS3-based SOCOM game ever since the console was released.
See, I loved SOCOM on the PS2. LOVED it. I played for hours on end and don’t recall the issues that I’ve encountered with the latest installment of the game. The gameplay is the same, actually it’s probably better . . . when the game works. The graphics are better . . . when they’re not frozen.
SOCOM Confrontation could be a good game. Heck, it could be a great game. In it’s current state though, it sucks. I don’t know if it’s the network, the software or gremlins inside the game. If it’s fixable, I hope the powers that be will fix it. Otherwise, I’ll keep waiting for a playable SOCOM game on the PS3.
Back to Halo 3 I suppose.
